What do you want to learn in a MOOC dedicated to Public Health/Global Health?

(Version Française)

The new Virchow-Villermé Center for Public Health Paris-Berlin will launch a Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) next October, 2013 entirely dedicated to public health and global health. It will be hosted by a platform (initially with experimental courses) developed in collaboration with Inria (French public institute for research in computer sciences), Sorbonne Paris Cité and Charité-Universitätsmedizin Berlin.

The audience for our MOOC is planned to be a mix of lifelong learners involved in continuing education, students in training programs, categories of social and health workers who need to reinforce some part of their training (e.g. caregivers of patients with Alzheimer’s disease, nurses in home care), and the general public interested in public health issues and experiences.

We engage here in a large open consultation using the Delphi method, which means that there will be up to two or three survey rounds. The aim of this survey is to help us understand what your needs and expectations are when using these new innovative tools for massive distance education, i.e. MOOC, in order to provide us with a concerted road map for our future developments.

In this consultation, we have targeted networks of academic institutions in public health and global health from Europe, North America, Latin America, Africa, Asia and the Pacific. However, since MOOC contains an “O” for open, this very consultation should be open and massive, and we are therefore also open to the views of the general public.

We appreciate your input into this survey which will be of great value in helping us design the MOOC. Everyone is welcome to provide his/her opinion. In return, access to results of this survey will be fully accessible, although entirely anonymous. We ask respondents to provide us with their names and email addresses for the sake of avoiding bogus responses, and to be able to get in touch with them to check any unclear answers. We will not link any names and emails to answers for any other purposes, and no one except three people (Anneliese Depoux, Ilana Levin, under the supervision and responsibility of Prof. Antoine Flahault) will have access to personal data.

Please feel free to answer this 40-item online questionnaire accessible by clicking on the following link and completing the questionnaire before July 21st, 2013. There is a lot of room for your comments as well. Thank you for your time spent on this survey. Please remember that there will be up to two or three rounds, so we will come back to you for the second round questionnaire at the end of August or early September, at which point you will also receive the results of the first round of the survey (with e-link to raw data on demand).
