CARNETS DESCARTES

Role of the university in our integration

From the summer holidays 2015, Ms Anke Clausen started to get in touch with the Erasmus students, beginning to transmit us the name of our mentors. The mentor was, in a manner of speaking, a link between Ms Clausen and us.

When we arrived in September, three introductory weeks were provided by the university in order to integrate us in Leipzig. In this way, we had the opportunity to meet the other international students during an excursion in Dresden, a track game in the city center of Leipzig, an international meal in the university or a visit of museums in Leipzig.

Throughout the first semester, we were helped by a master student who helped us to choose our courses and to get in touch with all the teachers. Moreover, we often received some mails from Ms Anke Clausen who informed us of all the upcoming events in the university.

The easiest way to find an accommodation in the city was to register to a student residence. Moreover, it seemed to me a good way to easily meet other international students. As for the other administrative procedures, we were - and are - helped by the university and our mentors to fill in a form all the papers we needed –and need- to register to the residence for the two semesters.

Our student residence is located in Moritz-Hof, ten minutes away from the HTWK University, by tramway.
