How can we ski from Zwicau?

KlinovecThe interest of Zwickau is to be near many interesting places. We are close to Prague, Leipzig, Dresden, Nuremberg… And also Klinovec.

Klinovec is a ski area just at one hour by car from Zwickau. Personally, I love ski and I did it in competition. I was happy to know that I could ski during the winter because it’s complicated from Paris.

One of my German friend purposed me to go together by car. It was the beginning of the season, in November, and I was a little bit worried about the snow quality.

We drove together from Chemnitz, where he live, to Klinovec in Czech Republic a Saturday morning. During the travel, we directly knew that we had changed of country. The houses were in bad conditions and we had the impression to go twenty years in the past. We finally found Klinovec, in the middle of nowhere

We had our own ski clothes and I just needed to rent the ski. Even if they have another currency, they let us pay in Euro because we are near the border of Germany. It was really cheap, only twenty-three euros for the ski and twenty for the ski lifts (for one day). And, we have eaten for five euros, drink include, in a comfortable restaurant.

The principal bad point is that only four ski slopes were open in November, so it was a bit repetitive. Also, the weather was really cold. In France, the temperatures are between zero and minus five. In Czech Republic, we had minus fourteen on the top of the ski slopes. We were literally freezing at the end of the day and, after this, I understand why people drink so much Glühwein (hot red wine) over here.

We did a stop in our way to come back in Annaberg, a middle size city of Germany where we eaten on the Christmas market. Christmas is a special period in Germany and it’s really nice to visit every town, even if the weather is cold.

I was exhausted after the day but, to be honest, it's a nice ski area for a small student budget and close to Zwickau.
