My departure from France

After several days of preparation (packing up my suitcase, trying not to forget anything…), I left France on 25 August. At the beginning, I can say that I was quite worried about leaving for the unknown. However, as soon as I came in the aircraft, the excitement became more important. I took off at 11 AM, the flight time was quite short: only four hours. After taking a fast nap, I landed in Tallinn’s airport: ten fewer degrees and much more clouds. It seemed to me that I changed season: summer to autumn. At that time I understood that warm and sunny weather were over for one year.

The early hours were laborious but encouraging: I had to find the bus station and home. Moving was very difficult with my huge suitcase (25 kilos) and my two others handbags… However, I remember that I was pleasantly surprised to notice that most Estonians were almost fluent in English. This facilitated my early days in Estonia.  After a one hour bus ride, I reached my goal: Akademia Hostel. In order to facilitate my social integration in the university campus, I wanted to live in a student residence. Few months before leaving France, I booked a room in this residence without knowing many things about it. In reality, I just knew that it was near university and therefore very convenient for my daily trips. After signing the official rental contract, I discovered that I shared a two rooms apartment with three others men (two beds per room).

I was the last one to arrive. My roommate, Dinh Dong is American and comes from Seattle. We quickly sympathized and he seemed enthusiastic about sharing his room with a French man. Then, I met my two others flat mates Akos (Hungarian) and Arnaud, a French student studying engineering. After meeting other Erasmus students I dined with my three news flat mates.  This evening, when I went to bed, my concerns were totally expressed and I was so exciting about this “northern adventure”..!
