The Courses I Followed

The Courses I Followed

Hej,

Today, I am going to talk about my classes at the University of Borås. During the autumn semester, I followed four mandatory courses (one after the other) and one optional course.

Methods and Tools in Libraries

In this course, we have been introduced to some methods and tools which are useful to work in a library and deal with the users. Three points were especially developed : reference calls and treatment, library space and media planning, and digital library system. I find very interesting and rewarding to learn concrete elements to think of and apply while working.

Content Management

Content Management is about the basic principles of information architecture and web content management. Its purpose is to give understanding keys on how to manage web content and how dynamic websites work to offer an engaging, informative, and meaningful content for the users. I had already studied most of the elements of this course in DUT.

Practical experience at Swedish libraries for foreign students

This course is the one I liked the most. We learned the functioning of Swedish libraries in general terms and in relation to library history. The major part of the course was about visiting different types of libraries : city libraries, school and university libraries, the library museum, the library of a court of appeal and a private library. I find these visits rewarding because I discover new things about the different kind of libraries and how they work. It also gave me perspective on the functioning of French libraries.

Information Literacies

In the Information Literacies course, we studied what are information literacy and information practice, and how it emerges in different contexts. For this, we had the opportunity to make a small‐scale empirical study on the subject we wanted.

Swedish

Finally, I followed the Swedish course. It is not a mandatory course, but I have chosen to do it because I wanted to learn more about the Swedish culture and integrate myself better in Borås. It was very interesting, and I do not regret it.

In the next articles, I will talk about Swedish culture. I would like indeed talk about nature in Sweden, but also fika.

Tack och vi his snart !
